5 missing workers from Canadian mining company found dead in Mexico

Mexican authorities announced Monday that five of the 10 workers who went missing from a Canadian-operated mine in Sinaloa have been identified among bodies found in clandestine graves last week.

Vizsla Silver Corp., which operates the Concordia mine, confirmed families had recognized some of the deceased but is still awaiting official confirmation.

Four suspects linked to the workers’ disappearances were arrested and led authorities to the graves, amid an ongoing investigation in a region plagued by Sinaloa cartel turf wars.

The abductions follow a Jan. 28 incident at the mine, prompting federal troops to increase security and a broader search effort, CBS News has reported.

Sinaloa continues to face a high number of disappearances, with over 7,000 missing locally, while organized crime frequently targets mines for extortion or theft of valuable resources.
