United States Central Command said three U.S. service members were killed and five seriously wounded during ongoing combat operations against Iran, with others sustaining minor injuries.
The casualties followed Iranian retaliatory strikes on U.S. bases after the joint U.S.-Israeli campaign known as Operation Epic Fury began Saturday.
CENTCOM denied online claims that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps hit the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, saying the vessel was not struck and continues operations.
The offensive targeted IRGC command centers, air defenses, missile and drone sites, military airfields, and the compound of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, whose death was later confirmed by Donald Trump, the Military Times has reported.
According to the Iranian Red Crescent Society, at least 201 people have been killed and more than 700 injured across Iran.
