A leaked 35-minute phone conversation has caused a major scandal in which two notable supporters of Vladimir Putin, Russian oligarch and former senator Farkhad Akhmedov, and prominent Moscow music producer Iosif Prigozhin, have been accused of referring to the Russian president as “Satan” and a “dwarf.”
The leaked phone call, which was shared by Ukraine’s Channel Five, reportedly includes a profanity-filled tirade against Putin and his closest associates, Yahoo News reported via the Daily Beast.
The Russian government has “f****d us, our children, their future, their destiny,” Akhmedov allegedly said in the leaked call, referring to the Kremlin’s handling of the war in Ukraine, according to Meduza. “He’s Satan,” he goes on to say of Putin in the phone call, which reportedly took place on January 24th.
During the leaked phone call, a substantial part of the discussion was focused on denouncing the Russian president and other high-ranking Kremlin officials for supposedly using Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu as a scapegoat to deflect responsibility for Moscow’s shortcomings in the Ukrainian conflict.
An unnamed source within Russia’s FSB security agency has reportedly verified the legitimacy of the leaked phone call, stating that “the FSB leadership recently held a meeting and instructed subordinates to take action” regarding the scandal.
