Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador urged Hispanic individuals in Florida to refrain from voting for Governor Ron DeSantis (R), who recently launched his 2024 presidential campaign, citing concerns over his immigration policies.

During his daily press conference, López Obrador expressed his hope that Hispanic voters in Florida would awaken and withhold their support from candidates who persecute and lack respect for migrants.

He commented on DeSantis’s political ambitions, stating that the governor had “uncovered” himself, using Mexican political jargon to refer to a candidate’s announcement, the Hill reported.

López Obrador also took credit for predicting DeSantis’s presidential bid.

“As you can see, I was not mistaken when I observed that his political stance on migrants was motivated by his aspiration to become the Republican Party’s candidate,” López Obrador remarked.
