Hamas has expanded its search for the remaining Israeli hostages’ bodies in southern Gaza, following Egypt’s deployment of experts to assist in the recovery.
A convoy of trucks and heavy equipment, including bulldozers and excavators, entered Khan Yunis as part of efforts under the fragile U.S.-brokered ceasefire to return the remains.
So far, Hamas has handed over 18 bodies, while Israel has returned 195 Palestinian bodies, but no new Israeli bodies have been released in the past five days, CBS News has reported.
Hamas’ chief negotiator, Khalil al-Hayya, said the search is difficult due to widespread destruction burying some remains deep underground.
