Ukraine reopens damaged Druzhba pipeline to unlock €90 billion EU loan

Ukraine has repaired the Druzhba pipeline, allowing Russian oil supplies to Europe to resume once a formal request is made.

The pipeline dispute had involved Ukraine, the EU, Hungary, and Slovakia, which still rely on Russian oil.

Hungary had delayed a €90 billion EU loan to Ukraine, using the issue as leverage, but recent political changes may unblock the funding.

President Zelensky confirmed the repairs were completed after damage from Russian strikes earlier this year, though he warned of possible future attacks, France 24 has reported.

Despite the fix, Ukraine remains opposed to EU countries continuing to purchase Russian energy, which helps fund the ongoing war.
