At least 16 dead in strikes across Ukraine and Russia

At least 16 people were killed in strikes across Ukraine, Russian-occupied areas, and Russia as fighting continued during the anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.

Russian attacks on Dnipro caused the highest casualties, while Ukraine launched drone strikes in Crimea, Luhansk, and inside Russia.

Ukraine also hit a major oil refinery deep in Russian territory, highlighting its growing long-range drone capabilities.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that ongoing attacks near Chernobyl risk a new nuclear danger, a concern echoed by the International Atomic Energy Agency, CBS News has reported.

Meanwhile, Russia strengthened military ties with North Korea, with Defense Minister Andrei Belousov meeting leader Kim Jong Un.
