Trump signs DHS legislation, ending record-breaking shutdown

President Donald Trump signed bipartisan legislation ending a record 76-day shutdown of key agencies at the Department of Homeland Security.

The bill restores funding for services like the Coast Guard, TSA, Secret Service, FEMA, and cybersecurity operations.

Immigration enforcement agencies such as ICE and Border Patrol were already funded separately and did not miss paychecks.

The shutdown had caused furlough risks, delayed operations, and uncertainty across national security and disaster preparedness functions, Politico has reported.

Lawmakers are still debating additional funding for immigration enforcement as part of a separate budget package.
