India’s Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) says it will continue protesting but will stop holding street marches in New Delhi after violent clashes with police left dozens injured.

The movement began after a leaked medical entrance exam forced 2.2 million students to retake the test and sparked demands for Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.

Opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, joined demonstrations and criticized the government’s handling of the protests, while Amnesty International condemned the police response.

Protesters also rallied behind activist Sonam Wangchuk, whose detention and hunger strike drew widespread public support, Al-Jazeera has reported.

Despite suspending marches, the CJP says it will continue pressing for accountability, compensation for affected families, and reforms to India’s education system.
