A worker died at SpaceX’s Starbase facility in South Texas early Friday morning as the company prepared for the upcoming test launch of its Starship V3 rocket.
Authorities said the death occurred around 4 a.m., and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating, though details and the worker’s identity have not been released.
Reports indicate the individual was a contractor who died following a fall.
The incident comes amid ongoing development and testing of Starship, the massive reusable rocket designed for deep-space missions, which has faced recent launch delays, Space.com has reported.
It also adds to broader concerns about safety at Starbase, where injury rates have been reported as higher than industry averages and SpaceX is facing additional lawsuits related to worker and environmental safety.
