Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has replaced Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi with Mykhailo Drapatyi in an effort to reset the country’s military strategy against Russia.

The leadership change follows days of protests sparked by the dismissal of Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, who had publicly criticized Syrskyi’s leadership.

Zelenskyy said the shake-up is intended to improve military coordination, mobilization, and pressure on Russia while pursuing victory and peace.

Fedorov, known for promoting drone technology and military innovation, was offered another government role, though it is unclear whether he accepted, Al-Jazeera has reported.

Russia dismissed the leadership change, saying it does not expect the move to affect the battlefield.
