Fire crews reported progress Monday in containing the Hawk Fire, which had burned 15,051 acres but remained 0% contained as of 9:30 a.m.

Firefighters were able to hold established lines despite extreme fire behavior and are working to keep the fire east of Dog Valley Road and south of U.S. 395.

Crews are also taking precautions around a natural gas line located within the fire area near Somersett.

Hot, dry and breezy conditions are expected to continue for the next 48 hours, allowing the fire to make moderate to high-intensity runs through dense fuels, KOLO-TV has reported.

Officials warned the fire could spread northeast and northwest and said there is currently no timeline for when evacuation areas will reopen.
