Archaeologists in Israel have uncovered a 1,300-year-old industrial and commercial complex in Ramat Gan near Tel Aviv.

The site includes pottery kilns, warehouses, shops and organized streets, suggesting it was a planned center for manufacturing and trade.

Researchers say the complex was located along an important ancient route connecting Jaffa, Ramla and Jerusalem.

The discovery was made during excavations ahead of construction of a new bus terminal, and archaeologists said the findings exceeded their expectations, Fox News has reported.

The area is near the ancient port city of Jaffa, which has biblical connections to Jonah and the apostle Peter, adding historical significance to the discovery.
