Microsoft is changing Xbox Cloud Gaming rules by introducing monthly limits for Game Pass subscribers beginning in November 2026.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will receive 15 hours of cloud gaming per month, while Premium subscribers will get 10 hours and Essential subscribers 5 hours.

Players who want additional cloud gaming time will be able to purchase extra hours through the Xbox Store, although Microsoft has not yet announced pricing.

Microsoft says the limits are necessary because the cost of providing cloud gaming increases as more people use the service for longer periods, CNBC has reported.

At the same time, Microsoft will allow people without Game Pass subscriptions to purchase cloud gaming hours and stream eligible games they already own, expanding access while shifting the service toward a pay-as-you-go model.
