A 15-year-old boy survived after his fishing vessel capsized in the freezing waters of Alaska’s Bering Sea, while two other crew members died.

The Coast Guard found the teenager sitting on top of the overturned 18-foot boat about four miles from St. Lawrence Island after an extensive search.

The boy endured the cold conditions overnight and was rescued by a nearby fishing vessel after Coast Guard crews dropped flares and life rafts to help locate him.

He was suffering from hypothermia, while the bodies of the two deceased boaters were recovered and taken to Nome, ABC News has reported.

Coast Guard officials called the rescue miraculous and expressed gratitude to the crews and first responders who helped save the teenager.
