A fifth-grade teacher and her 10-year-old student died during a field trip to the MacBride Nature Recreation Area in Iowa this week.

Hannah Jorgensen, 24, and Ahmed Osman, 10, were found in the Coralville Reservoir after authorities received a report of two people in the water near the spillway.

Jorgensen’s body was recovered Tuesday, while Osman’s was found the following day.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said the circumstances surrounding their deaths remain under investigation, ABC News has reported.

The Iowa City Community School District offered condolences to their families and said counselors would be available to support students and staff affected by the tragedy.
