General Motors plans to add hybrid vehicles to its U.S. lineup as demand for hybrids grows while sales of fully electric vehicles weaken.
GM propulsion executive Mike Anderson said hybrids are “part of the plan,” but the company has not announced when the new models will arrive.
GM has largely avoided hybrids while investing heavily in electric vehicles, and currently sells only one hybrid model, the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray.
The shift comes as high gasoline prices and slowing EV demand encourage more consumers to choose hybrids, with competitors such as Toyota and Honda benefiting from the trend, CNBC has reported.
GM is still committed to an all-electric future but is expected to introduce plug-in hybrids across more of its lineup, potentially beginning in late 2027 or early 2028.
