Human vs humanoid robot cage fight goes viral

Frankie LaPenna, a content creator, stepped into a San Francisco cage to fight three humanoid robots in an event billed as the first human-versus-humanoid robot cage fight.

The robots included modified EngineAI T800s standing about six feet tall, with footage showing one knocking LaPenna across the cage with a powerful strike.

Despite the robots’ futuristic appearance, they were controlled in real time by human pilots using VR equipment or gamepads, while AI assisted with balance and movement.

LaPenna reportedly suffered a hand injury but avoided serious harm, while the event demonstrated how much strength and stability modern humanoid robots can achieve, Fox News has reported.

The spectacle has also raised safety and regulatory concerns, with California’s State Athletic Commission issuing REK a cease-and-desist order over the unsanctioned human-robot combat event.
