Two Latvian men have been arrested after allegedly breaching the security fence at RAF Molesworth, a British air base used by the US military and NATO for intelligence operations.
The men, aged 32 and 36, were discovered inside the base early Thursday after police found an abandoned vehicle and a hole in the perimeter fence.
Authorities initially arrested the men on suspicion of trespassing and criminal damage before detaining them under national security legislation.
Counterterrorism police are investigating the incident, and both men remain in custody, DW has reported.
The arrests come after a separate suspected plot involving RAF Fairford last month, although police say there is currently no evidence linking the two incidents.
