Republican House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy on Sunday vowed to remove and keep future committee assignments from Democratic Representatives Eric Swalwell, Adam Schiff and Illhan Omar when the Republicans retake control of the new Congress.
- FOX NEWS – During an appearance on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” McCarthy told anchor Maria Bartiromo that he will keep the promise he made in January to remove Swalwell and Schiff from the House Intelligence Committee and Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
- BREITBART – McCarthy said, “Yes, I will. I’ll keep that promise. One thing I have said from the very beginning is Eric Swalwell cannot get a security clearance in the public sector. Why would we ever give him a security clearance and the secrets to America? So I will not allow him to be on Intel.
- AXIOS – McCarthy added that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) wouldn’t be allowed to serve on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, citing her “antisemitic comments.”
- THE DAILY BEAST – Schiff, who is the chair of the House Intelligence Committee, accused McCarthy of pandering to the right wing of his party.
