A Colorado dentist is accused of killing his wife by poisoning her protein shakes so that he could start a new life with his mistress, according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by The Daily Beast.
On Sunday morning in Aurora, Colorado, James Toliver Craig, 45, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, Yahoo News reported.
As per the affidavit, Craig had planned to kill his wife, Angela Craig, by searching for ways to murder someone undetected, providing her with poisons that would align with her hospital symptoms, and starting a new life with his lover.
Police described the murder as “heinous, complex, and calculated.”
Craig had driven his wife to a hospital on Wednesday evening after she complained of severe dizziness and headaches. Unfortunately, she suffered a seizure and experienced a rapid medical decline, eventually being declared brain dead and taken off life support on Sunday.
The Aurora Police Department’s Major Crimes Homicide Unit initiated an investigation after Craig’s business partner raised concerns with a nurse about Angela Craig potentially being poisoned.
The suspicions stemmed from the discovery of a package that Angela had opened two days before her hospitalization, containing a canister with a biohazard sticker and a potassium cyanide label.
