Reports from Northern Ireland suggest that a dissident republican terrorist organization has been planning a significant attack to cast a shadow over President Joe Biden’s upcoming visit to the region this week.

The President is scheduled to arrive in Belfast on Tuesday, and a significant security operation is in place, the Daily Mail reported.

As the Republic of Ireland and the United Kingdom prepare to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, which ended years of violence known as ‘the Troubles’, officials have recently upgraded the security alert from ‘substantial’ to ‘severe’.

In recent weeks, dissident terrorist groups who oppose the peace agreement have increased their activity. In this context, reports suggest that the Police Service of Northern Ireland has conducted searches in Derry, a city that was one of the main centers of violence during the Troubles.

An insider told the Belfast Telegraph that the British Army bomb squad was on the scene last weekend.
