During his commencement address to Howard University’s graduating class on Saturday, President Joe Biden unequivocally condemned white supremacy as the “most perilous terrorist threat” to the nation.
Biden emphasized, “White supremacy… is the singularly most hazardous terrorist threat within our own borders.,” Politico reported.
He further clarified that his statement was not influenced by the fact that he was speaking at a historically Black university (HBCU), stating, “I express this sentiment wherever I am.”
Speaking at the Capital One Arena in D.C. to the graduating class of 2023, President Biden portrayed the United States as a nation grappling with internal divisions and made references to key themes from both his 2020 and 2024 campaign platforms.
Using the rallying cry that resonated with voters during the 2020 election, Biden urged his audience to “fight for the soul of the nation.”
