On Wednesday, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson revealed that she had received a congratulatory floral arrangement worth $1,200 from Oprah Winfrey and $6,580 worth of designer clothing for a magazine photo shoot during her initial months as the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court.

The disclosure of these gifts given to Justice Jackson was part of the annual financial filings submitted by most members of the court, providing a limited insight into their financial affairs. These reports were made public on Wednesday.

However, the filing that garnered the most attention—Justice Clarence Thomas’s report—was conspicuously absent, the Associated Press reports.

Justice Thomas, who has faced scrutiny over undisclosed gifts received from a Republican donor, along with Justice Samuel Alito, requested a 90-day extension for their filings.

Justice Thomas’s acceptance of gifts, with an estimated value of several hundred thousand dollars, from Republican donor Harlan Crow, has sparked calls for ethics reform within the highest court of the land.

The reason for the requested extension for both Justices Thomas and Alito remains unclear.
