AI-Powered Vending Machines Selling Bullets

American Rounds, a vending machine company, is pioneering a new approach to ammunition sales using artificial intelligence and facial recognition technology to verify buyers’ ages.

This advanced method aims to ensure compliance with U.S. regulations that mandate purchasers be at least 18 or 21 years old, depending on the type of firearm ammunition.

The company’s machines, equipped with AI, card scanning, and facial recognition software, verify that the person matches the identification scanned before dispensing bullets, Gizmodo has reported.

Initially available in Oklahoma and Alabama, the machines faced legal scrutiny in Tuscaloosa, where one was removed due to questions about its legality, although it met zoning requirements.
