Rep. Mike Waltz tapped to be Trump’s national security advisor

Rep. Mike Waltz, R-Fla., has been offered the position of national security advisor in a potential Trump administration, confirmed by a source to Fox News Digital.

Waltz, a retired Green Beret and former policy adviser to Defense Secretaries Rumsfeld and Gates, has been a key supporter of Trump during the 2024 campaign.

Although Waltz represents a safe red district in Florida, his move to the administration could complicate Republican control in the House, Fox News has reported.

This follows House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik’s acceptance of the U.N. Ambassador role. Waltz was also considered for Secretary of Defense.
