President Trump has paused military aid to Ukraine following a clash with President Zelenskiy, citing a need to ensure the aid supports peace efforts.
Trump criticized Zelenskiy for lacking gratitude and reacted strongly to comments suggesting the war’s end is far off.
Despite tensions, Trump indicated a potential deal for U.S. investment in Ukraine’s minerals is still on the table.
Since Russia’s invasion, the U.S. has provided $175 billion in aid, with an additional $5.9 billion announced before Biden left office, Reuters has reported.
Trump plans to update Congress on the situation soon.
