A Florida woman, Autumn Bardisa, 29, has been arrested for allegedly posing as a nurse and treating nearly 4,500 patients over 19 months at AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway Hospital using another nurse’s identity.
Authorities say Bardisa used a real nurse’s license number—belonging to someone with the same first name—to gain employment and later falsely claimed a name change due to marriage, but never provided proof.
Her deception was uncovered after a promotion led a colleague to check her credentials, revealing her nursing license was expired, NBC News has reported.
Bardisa now faces 14 felony charges, and the sheriff called the case “one of the most disturbing” medical frauds ever investigated.
