Israel approved a framework for the release of all hostages held in Gaza, both living and deceased, following a deal signed with Hamas in Egypt.
The agreement, described as the “first phase” of ending the two-year war in Gaza, aims to bring home dozens of remaining Israeli hostages.
President Trump indicated the hostages could be released as early as Monday or Tuesday under the deal.
Israel is expected to begin withdrawing its forces to an agreed-upon line once the government formally approves the framework, CBS News has reported.
Celebrations erupted in Tel Aviv’s Hostages Square, with revelers waving U.S. and Israeli flags and praising Trump’s role in brokering the agreement.
