Progressive organizations including Indivisible and MoveOn have launched campaigns urging senators to replace him, reflecting wider frustration with his leadership in the Trump-era political climate.

Despite the backlash, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries publicly defended Schumer, praising his efforts during the shutdown, Axios has reported.

For now, Schumer’s position appears secure, as no Senate Democrats have joined the calls for his removal.
