Student kills 9 in Turkey’s second school shooting in 2 days

A 14-year-old student opened fire in two classrooms at a middle school in Turkey, killing nine people and injuring 13 before dying during the incident.

The attacker, identified as Isa Aras Mersinli, used multiple firearms believed to belong to his father, a retired police officer who has since been detained.

Authorities have not yet determined the motive, and it remains unclear whether the gunman was killed by police or took his own life.

The attack follows a similar shooting a day earlier in Sanliurfa, where 16 people were wounded, the AP has reported.

Officials have restricted media coverage of the incident while investigations continue.
