Seven teenagers were shot, and two were killed, after a planned fight escalated into gunfire at Leinbach Park in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Police said multiple people exchanged shots during the incident, which occurred before 10 a.m. on Monday.

The victims include two deceased boys, ages 17 and 16, and five others injured ranging from minor to critical condition.

Authorities are still investigating how many firearms were involved and each person’s role in the shooting, ABC News has reported.

Officials called the incident senseless and urged parents and the community to take stronger steps to prevent youth violence.
