A man identified as Cole Allen is accused of attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump outside a Washington political gala.

Prosecutors say Allen fired a shotgun near the White House Correspondents’ Dinner and had traveled across the country armed with multiple weapons.

He is charged with attempted assassination and related firearms offenses and has agreed to remain in custody while the case proceeds.
