Russian ship ‘carrying nuclear reactors to NKorea’ sinks off Spain

The Russian cargo ship Ursa Major, which sank off the coast of Spain in December 2024, was reportedly carrying components for two nuclear reactors allegedly destined for North Korea.

The ship’s sinking remains mysterious, with investigators suggesting explosions or a possible torpedo attack may have breached the hull.

Before the incident, the vessel was escorted by Russian military ships and had listed Vladivostok as its destination, though the captain later reportedly said the cargo was ultimately headed to North Korea’s port of Rason.

After the crew issued a distress call and evacuated, additional explosions reportedly occurred near the ship before it sank to the ocean floor, the U.S. Sun has reported.

The incident has drawn international attention due to suspicions of covert nuclear technology transfers and unusual military activity surrounding the wreck.
