Trump’s Secret Service engaged in ‘intense standoff’ with Chinese officials over gun

During President Donald Trump’s state visit to Beijing, a tense standoff reportedly broke out between U.S. Secret Service agents and Chinese officials at the Temple of Heaven.

Chinese security denied entry to an armed Secret Service agent accompanying the press pool, causing delays and heated negotiations that lasted nearly 30 minutes.

Reporters were briefly held in side rooms while both sides argued before eventually reaching an undisclosed compromise.

Additional disputes reportedly occurred later when Chinese officials tried to prevent reporters and U.S. staff from rejoining Trump’s motorcade, the Irish Star has reported.

The incident happened amid extremely tight security measures across Beijing during Trump’s high-profile visit with President Xi Jinping.
