Three people were killed in a shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego, which authorities are investigating as a possible hate crime.

Two suspects, aged 17 and 18, were later found dead from apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds, and the FBI is seeking public tips as part of the investigation.

The attack happened shortly before midday prayers at the city’s largest mosque, prompting a rapid police response and the confirmation that no children at the center’s school were harmed.

Officials said a security guard was among the victims and was credited with helping prevent further casualties, The Guardian has reported.
