Jesse Lee Calhoun, a 41-year-old man already accused of killing four women in the Portland area, has now been charged with the murder of a fifth victim, Ashley Real.
Prosecutors say Real was previously linked to Calhoun’s case and had reported being assaulted and strangled by him before her disappearance in 2023.
Her body was later found in a pond, and a grand jury has now indicted Calhoun on second-degree murder in her death.
Authorities say the case is part of a broader investigation into multiple killings, with officials calling the indictment a major step toward justice for the victims’ families, Oregon Live has reported.
Calhoun, who has a long criminal history and is currently in custody, is awaiting trial scheduled for next year.
