2 hostages released after man barricaded himself inside California bank with others

Authorities in Bakersfield placed several downtown buildings on lockdown Tuesday after a reported bomb threat and hostage situation at a Chase Bank building.

Police said an unidentified man entered the bank and barricaded himself inside with an unknown number of people.

Two hostages were successfully released through negotiations, and no injuries had been reported.

Nearby buildings, including City Hall and Police Headquarters, were locked down as a precaution while law enforcement continued negotiations, ABC 7 News has reported.

The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security were assisting local authorities in the ongoing response.
