An American and a British soldier died in a training accident at an air base in Irbil, northern Iraq, on Sunday, according to U.S. and U.K. officials.

Authorities have not released details about the incident, and the identities of the soldiers are being withheld pending family notifications.

The U.K. Ministry of Defence and Defense Secretary John Healey expressed condolences and requested privacy for the soldier’s family.

The accident occurred in Iraq’s Kurdish region, where U.S. forces maintain a presence as part of ongoing security and diplomatic efforts, CBS News has reported.

The deaths come weeks after two American soldiers died during an off-duty hiking accident in Morocco.
