Moscow car bomb kills 1 person, investigators say, with victim yet to be identified

A man was killed in a car bombing early Tuesday in Balashikha, a city east of Moscow, after an explosive device detonated as his BMW was driving near an apartment building.

Russian investigators said the victim died at the scene from multiple injuries, and his identity had not yet been confirmed.

Authorities have opened a criminal investigation and are conducting forensic examinations to determine the circumstances of the attack.

Officials have not announced any suspects or possible motives, ABC News has reported.

The incident follows several high-profile bombings in Moscow in recent years that have been linked to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
