At least one person was killed after Kenyan police used force to disperse protests against a planned U.S.-backed Ebola quarantine facility in Nanyuki.
Demonstrators oppose the project, arguing that Kenya is being asked to assume health risks associated with an Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.
The facility, intended to house U.S. citizens exposed to Ebola but not yet showing symptoms, has sparked public anger and legal challenges despite support from Kenyan and U.S. authorities.
Protests have continued for days, with previous demonstrations also resulting in deaths and injuries, Al-Jazeera has reported.
Critics say the project lacks transparency and question whether Kenya has the resources to handle a potential Ebola outbreak.
