Israel orders Tyre residents to evacuate ancient Lebanese city

Residents of the ancient Lebanese city of Tyre are facing a difficult choice between staying amid Israeli airstrikes or fleeing and becoming displaced within their own country.

For the first time, Israeli evacuation orders have included Al Hara, Tyre’s historic Christian quarter, prompting many families to leave despite believing the area to be safe and politically neutral.

Some residents remain behind to protect their homes, businesses, and elderly relatives, while others have sought refuge elsewhere in Lebanon.

The conflict has emptied much of the city, damaged neighborhoods, and disrupted daily life in an area known for its history, tourism, and UNESCO-listed sites, NBC News has reported.

Many residents expressed fear and uncertainty, hoping to return home soon as the fighting continues.
