A recall has been issued for certain flavors of Zapp’s and Dirty Potato Chips due to a possible salmonella contamination linked to a seasoning ingredient.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said multiple chip varieties, including salt and vinegar, cheddar-style, and sour cream and onion, may be affected and advised consumers not to eat them.
Although initial testing of the seasoning showed no contamination, officials are urging customers to discard the products as a precaution, even though no illnesses have been reported.
Salmonella can cause symptoms such as fever, diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, and vomiting, and can be more serious for children and older adults, Yahoo News has reported.
Consumers can contact the manufacturer for refunds or questions while the investigation continues.
