Some media outlets reported receiving messages demanding millions in Bitcoin or claiming she had died, though authorities have not verified these claims.

Guthrie, the mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie, disappeared on Feb. 1, with blood and surveillance footage of a masked man found near her home outside Tucson, ABC News has reported.

Search efforts continue across desert areas as law enforcement and volunteers pursue leads.
