Paul Pelosi, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is suspected of hitting a parked car and leaving the scene in Yountville, California, on Friday afternoon.
Deputies said his vehicle struck a legally parked, unoccupied car, causing major damage before briefly stopping and then driving away.
Police later located Pelosi’s damaged convertible nearby and said he admitted to hitting something but did not realize what it was.
Authorities found no evidence of alcohol involvement and did not arrest him, forwarding the case to the district attorney and DMV for review, CBS News has reported.
A family spokesperson said he apologized and accepted responsibility for the incident.
