A violent kidnapping in Chino Hills, California, ended with the deaths of the victim and one suspect late Wednesday night.

Authorities said 60-year-old Shukur Aikebaer was shot and abducted while checking his home’s electrical panel after a power outage.

The suspects, identified as Zhengfeng Bo and Jianquan Bo, allegedly fled with Aikebaer before a shootout with deputies left Zhengfeng Bo dead and Aikebaer fatally injured.

Jianquan Bo was arrested and remains in custody without bail on suspicion of murder and kidnapping, KTLA 5 has reported.

Investigators are continuing to search for a motive and have recovered evidence from a suspect’s home.
