A New York police official, Jennifer Lackard, was fired after being accused of acting as a getaway driver for her son in an alleged attempted murder case.
Authorities say Lackard and her 20-year-old son, Chase, were arrested in connection with a June shooting outside a Bronx courthouse, where no one was injured.
Investigators allege Chase was the shooter and that his mother drove him away from the scene.
Lackard faces charges including attempted murder, assault, gun possession, conspiracy, and reckless endangerment, The Guardian has reported.
The Mount Vernon Police Department said her termination was unrelated to her official duties and came after the criminal charges were filed.
