More than 300,000 Haitians in the United States are now at risk of arrest and deportation after the Trump administration ended their Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

A federal judge’s order blocking the termination expired following a Supreme Court ruling that cleared the way for the government to end TPS for Haitians.

Many affected Haitians face the difficult choice of remaining in the U.S. without legal status or returning to Haiti, where crime, gang violence and political instability remain severe.

Immigration enforcement has already increased, with removal orders rising sharply and some Haitians being placed under electronic monitoring, The Guardian has reported.

Haitian advocates and lawmakers are urging Congress to extend TPS, warning that deportations could endanger families and worsen labor shortages in industries that rely on Haitian workers.
