A 47-year-old Reno woman, Christine Mitchell, has been arrested in connection with the Freds Mountain Fire.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office says Mitchell intentionally started multiple fires near Freds Mountain Road.

Authorities say she later flagged down firefighters responding to the blaze and admitted that she had started the fire.

The fire grew into what became known as the Freds Mountain Fire, KOLO-TV has reported.

Mitchell faces charges of third-degree arson and possession of a controlled substance.
