The United States closed its embassies in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait on Tuesday as Iran intensified drone and missile attacks on U.S. targets across the Gulf.
The U.S. Embassy Riyadh shut down after a drone strike caused minor damage, while the U.S. Embassy Kuwait also closed following a separate drone incident.
The State Department ordered nonessential personnel and families to evacuate from six countries, including the UAE, Qatar, Iraq, Jordan and Bahrain, amid growing security threats.
Iran has launched hundreds of projectiles at Gulf states hosting U.S. bases, though many have been intercepted, the New York Times has reported.
